AFRICATOWN”s Hog Bayou Construction? What the H###? That area is POLLUTED!!!

The picture below will show what looks like a path as wide as The Africatown Blvd created in an area of Africatown known as Hog Bayou. It is the area that was occupied by The International Paper Company that polluted the Africatown community for about 70 years before it was forced to leave by the EPA around the year 2000. That area was never mitigated and should have been declared a Super Fund Site and cleaned up by now. But it wasn’t and has been sitting there for years not cleaned up and undeveloped. The Berg Pipe Company was allowed to purchased some of the site and build their pipe company there. As they were constructing their facility, I never saw them carry not one truckload of existing soil away from the site. However, I did see them truck in plenty of top soil in the area to serve as a new foundation for their new facility. The area where the path has been created is the same area where we observed concrete from the old International Paper facility being grinded down and put in dump trucks and delivered to The Hosea Weaver Asphalt Plant in Magazine Point to be used as raw material in their Asphalt Plant. We complained and they stopped.
