AFRICATOWN’s School 2024 MCTSAA Reunion Ushers in a New Era

An overflow crowd of over 200 people attended the 2024 Annual Reunion Banquet for The Mobile County Training School Alumni Association, MCTSAA, as they begin a new era for their organization by emphasizing the younger members thus insuring the sustainability of the oldest non-profit in Africatown. The theme for this year’s banquet was, “The Way We Were…The Way We Are Now…We Are One.”

 

The greeting for the banquet was given by Bridgett Holloway, daughter of Charles Holloway from the class of 1966. The Generational Prayer was delivered by Monica Hubert, daughter of Dr. Ozell Hubert class of 1964. A reading titled “This is your Life” was given by Joycelyn Davis a MCTS Middle School Graduate. The Blessing of the Food was delivered by Rev. Willie Roberson III, son of Joyce Gray Roberson & Willie Roberson Jr., both graduates of the class of 1966. A song was performed by a group that included Tisha Landrum, Daughter of Georgia Landrum class of 1966. The guest speaker was Joe Womack III, son of Joe Womack Jr. class of 1968.

 

The last graduating High School class of Mobile County Training School was 1970, thus making the youngest person alive to graduate from MCTS when it was a High School 72 years old. Thanks goes out to all of those responsible for this historic institution of learning still being alive today. The MCTSAA is looking for members to join that both attended or did not attend the Historic Mobile County Training School.
